Andy Martinelli Clark is an artist and occasional critic who has written for BmoreArt and Artforum. He is a three-time semi-finalist for the Bethesda Painting Awards and editor of the comprehensive monograph Alice Martinelli: Amalgamation—which was selected as a finalist for the 2023 Communication Arts design competition. His process-driven works on paper, with their precisely delineated forms and puzzle-like compositions, echo the incongruent nature of our shared world. Clark views his drawings and monoprints as fictional constructions—each possessing their own distinct attitude, spacial propositions, and layered histories.
His work has been included in group exhibitions at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA; Notre Dame of Maryland University, Baltimore, MD; Mono Practice, Baltimore, MD; and at Hamiltonian Gallery, Washington, DC, among others. Clark earned a BFA in 2019 from the Maryland Institute College of Art, where he studied painting and printmaking.
